Philip Michael Caven is the sole proprietor of Caven Real Estate Associates LP, a Philadelphia, PA based real estate agency that is focused on customer satisfaction above all else. Caven began what would be his long and successful career working as an Assistant Buyer for Neiman Marcus after just graduating from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. His responsibilities included sales analysis and special orders, coordinating an effort to acquire an office for men’s private label clothing, and completing the company’s prestigious Buyer Development Program. Satisfied with his achievements at the firm, he moved to Columbus Ohio and went on to become Regional Distributor for Structure Stores. His duties here included analyzing a test group of stores, and strategically allocating merchandise to stores across the country.

Afterwards, Philip Michael Caven explored new territory in a field that he was deeply interested in pursuing: mental health counseling and social work. He began by volunteering at various agencies by assisting with suicide prevention, and AIDS support programs. He enrolled in the University of Dayton, Ohio and was awarded his Master’s Degree in Social Agency II Counseling in 1995. His career in the field of mental health and social work was short but rewarding. He acted as Case Manager for Southeast Mental Health for a year; during this time, he maintained a caseload of roughly 20 clients who suffered from mental disabilities. After receiving his degree, he would go on to provide counseling services and was responsible for diagnosing patients under supervision.

Michael Caven became a business partner with Main Street Investments in 1996. He was responsible for the management of the Main Street building and his responsibilities included the negotiation of leases and tenant relations and facilitating the maintenance and sale of the building. The year 1996 was also a special and important one for Caven as it was during this year that he founded his first restaurant, Out on Main, the first and only LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) themed restaurant in the United States. Caven was in complete control of the hiring, training, and growth of the entire staff including the management.

After the eventual closing of his restaurant, which stood for almost a decade, Caven finally entered the real estate business and founded Caven Real Estate Associates. The business has been growing steadily, and Caven since received his real estate license for the state of Pennsylvania. The group’s most notable achievement was the renovation of a 140 year old building into a multi-level condominium. Philip Michael Caven has continued his work with the business and has branched out to work with non-profit civil rights groups as well.
